Riverhorse Valley Area Information

Location

The business district of Riverhorse Valley is home to many blue chip companies. These companies are leaders in their industries, and they provide thousands of jobs for people in the area. The businesses in this district are an important part of the local economy, and they contribute to the vibrant community that makes Riverhorse Valley a great place to run one's business. Located alongside the N2 Freeway, this area has excellent facilities and an incredible location that make it a desirable place for top-tier firms from all over KwaZulu-Natal! The node's proximity to major roads makes it an ideal place for warehouses and logistics facilities. The big plus about this area? Easy accessibility onto the main arterial roads via Queen Nandi Drive, N2 & North Coast Road!

History

The area was part of a large lake and has changed dramatically since the early 1800's. By the 1930's only a small part of the lake remained. The remainder of the lake was used for sugar cane cultivation. Closure of the Mt Edgecombe Sugar Mill and Effingham Brickworks in the early 1990's resulted in the development of the business estate, primarily due to its locality. The bulk of the area was owned by the Tongaat Hulett Group. Smaller portions owned by Propnet, eThekwini Municipality and SANRAL and were incorporated into the Estate. It was then decided to construct a new link road (Queen Nandi Drive) between the North Coast Road in Briardene and KwaMashu. Hence the development of Riverhorse Valley Business Estate.

Amenities

Close to most amenities including schools, clinics, Shoprite shopping Centre and places of worship. On public transport route. Well recognized landmarks are the eThekwini Heart Hospital and the two Total petro-ports. The suburbs of Reservoir Hills, Newlands, and Kwamashu provide an ample supply of labour for the area.

Due to its locality, Riverhorse Valley is definitely a good playing ground for a business whether it being logistics or manufacturing.
