Westmead, Pinetown

Westmead is a thriving industrial location that's comparable to the nodes of Northern Corridor such as Riverhorse Valley and Springfield Park. The area is located close to the N3 linking Pietermaritzburg to Durban and is situated close to large labor pools. Westmead comprises a mix of light industrial, factory and warehousing type properties ranging from mini factories to large distribution centers. Landlords have realised good capital growth over the past years as a result of healthy demand levels and lack of industrial land. All modern amenities and public services are located in Pinetown Central, which is situated along side Westmead and is easily accessed from Richmond Road. History

20 Years ago a large tract of land was purchased from the Mariannhill Monastery. This land was developed into an Industrial Park as referred to as the new Westmead.  Westmead ensures its ongoing popularity as a key industrial node due to its strategic location.

The surrounding areas, especially along Old Main Road, Pinetown, has a reputation as a "motor town", due to the high number of motor dealerships. In the city there are several shopping centres, including St John's Checkers Centre, Pine Walk and Pine Crest on Kings Road and Knowles Spar Superstore. Medical facilities include Crompton Hospital, St Mary's Hospital as well as Medi Cross Medical Centre. Gelofte Skool is the only Afrikaans medium school in the area. Other occupiers in the area features blue chip tenants such as Nestle, Bakers Biscuits, Cambridge Foods Distribution and Futurelife.

Having its own CBD, the area offers convenience for those who work or own businesses in the area.  Westmead provides employment for the majority of Pinetown people which in turn helps business owners in area with labor pool.
